(SOLVED) PSP Unbricking

January 27th, 2020

I’ve used rains mms maker and a hot wire tool to unbrick my psp and got it to install 4.01 m33. Tried to get it to run the update to 5.50 gen a through the psp menu and it stopped at 92% and re-bricked the psp.
The problem I have mow is that the same MMS will not boot with my hot wire tool anymore. I hold the L trigger when putting in the hot wire and the menu shows for about a second and then the psp turns off again. Tried making the mms on 2 different sticks (sony and sandisk) and still the same.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Will give the hellcat tool a try thanx. Will it work on a full brick?
Also , do you think that the ‘fake’ pandora is te problem here? The setup all worked fine before i tried to upgrade further and then when that update failed and re-bricked it it stopped functioning. Just seems bizarre to work and then stop without anything changing other han the failed update.

oh, thats what happened you did not elaborate, you need to download the latest version of the unbricker, also did can you charge the pandora battery, after being modified the charge dies quickly and somethings you cant charge it anymore.
i believe you bricked your psp by “NOT UPDATING M33 to 5.00 M33-6 and then updating to Gen-A.

I dont have another pandora but i can change the batteries in the hot wire to fresh ones. Will change the batteries and try out your suggestion. I see now how i bricked it so that makes sense. Is there a set procedure of how to get up to te latest fw or can you flash a bricked psp straight to the newest in any way? eg 4.01-5.00-5.50
If this solves the problem I will get a real pandora. does anyone know a reliable source in the uk for them?
Thanks for all your help
