purple/ majenta spots on tv when playing off laptop through

i am using windows 7 laptop to play movies through my lg tv. The tv is fine, it works fine when i play stuff off of my ps3. the problem is when i play movies through my laptop… at dark scenes, or at scenes where there is dark blue colour, i get fuzzy purple dots…the dots are never at the same place, it really depends on the picture on screen.. i’m not sure exactly how to describe this problem, so hadn’t been having much luck googling… i’m hoping someone might be able to help me fix it/ at least find the source of the problem. ps: it was working perfectly fine couple of days ago.
edit: tl;dr some certain colour pixels on my digital tv is turning purple/ majanta.
Could be a problem with the cable.
Try another cable, and make sure it isn’t passing very close to any strong magnetic field such as a loudspeaker.
Does it happen when you play em directly on the laptop too? If it does, Try a different video player, And if that doesn’t work, Obtain the latest driver for your video card, If the problem persists, I’d suspect the video card is overheating.
Does the spots appear when you play the same video in the computer?
If no, and no spots appear when playing from ps3,

It only happens when I play a video/ images using my laptop. Also, there are spots visible on desktop and some websites when displaying over the tv. There is no problem when playing on the laptop screen. Could be a problem with the cable.

tried with 2 different cables. the problem persists. I am starting to think it might be caused by a recent windows update… Its really weird because I see no problem with playing stuff off of the laptop screen but when connected to the tv through hdmi, spots start appearing… I have checked and have the most updated version of the drivers.. Is there anything else I can try before I can opt for buying a new nettop for htpc?
