Portal: Prelude missing files

January 27th, 2020

hi.
i’m having a bit of a problem (just like a lot of people out there i presume).
in order to play portal: prelude, you need portal (since it’s a mod).
now here’s the center of the hurricane: i installed a standalone Non-Steam version of Portal and then put the Portal: Prelude folder in the root folder (where the hl2.exe file is located) and then created a shortcut in the desktop blah blah blah.
anyway, when i play the game, there are stuff that supposedly should have a model/texture/etc but they don’t, so i get an ERROR model when a model is missing, or a purple texture when a texture is missing, and so on and so on.
what can i do to fix this?
PS: i also have a theory which explains this phenomenon: the mod (portal:prelude) uses models/textures/etc that are located in the hl2 folder (where half life 2 files are located), but i don’t know which files it used…

i have the same problem too. but i cant find any solution… i tryed to copy all textures from hl2 episode one and two and than, paste on portal textures folder. but the red error and purple textures are still there. (sorry my english)
Answer #2
same problem here, huge red ‘ERROR’s everywhere.
Answer #3
you need half life 2
Answer #4
but i have only non steam version (ripped)
maybe if i create the same directories than steam version have with hl2, and portal… i will try
