Visual Studio 2008 (missing files)
May 9th, 2021
I recently downloaded the trial of Visual Studio 2008. I’m trying to edit the resource file in my program, but everytime I do so, VS2008 gives me this:
Any of you, that have got it installed, that could check for the file RCDLL.dll in your the folders mention on the image?
Thanks !
Uninstall the trial and install the full retail version available elsewhere here. You won’t have that problem anymore.
Already downloaded the full version on my other computer, gives me the exact same thing.
try this
Tools -> Options -> Projects and Solutions -> VC++ Directories
Show directories for: Include files
Add slash to last path, so “P:\” became “P:\\”.
Didn’t work. And I knew it wouldn’t. The files are missing, they never gets copied when I install VS2008. Already tried reinstalling, fixing my installation several times, same thing over and over.
Any other suggestions? If you’ve got VS install, could you hook me up please ? At the very least, check whether you’ve got the files yourself
did u checked that path ?files missing?
if no how about removing “\” at the end of the directory path !!
Of course I checked the paths the error gave me. I tried searching for it too, but nothing.
Changing environment stuff around work do anything, as long as the file’s missing
only rcdll.dll missing or ?
It bitches about rc.exe & mt.exe too when I try compiling Resource files, and generate manifest files.
Seems u need another installation from a different source !!
It would seem so. But it doesn’t make any sense that the copy I downloaded from Microsoft is missing the files too ?
as u know we cant trust
