How can I setup a USB with games (Pro Evolution Soccer) on it and play it from the PS2, without having to install those chips and stuff..
Thank you.

Is there a way to make this work without extra hardware?
Just my pc and a usb stick ?
Answer #3
The PS2 uses USB 1.0 so some games work great and others might lag (Especially during cut scenes) and some games don’t work.
Here’s how to do it:
Softmod your PS2 with Free McBoot
Can i install FMCB on any PS2 model?
All consoles made before mid 2008 work with FMCB. The new Slim SCPH-9xxxxx models with a Date code of 8C and a BIOS v230 don't work with FMCB. All models after this version also will not work with FMCB.

To check PS2 version, turn over ps2 and check the label (Like the image below)

If that above quote does not apply to you then you can softmod.
Here’s what you need:
A Boot method for the installer
A Memory Card with minimal 3.5MB free
A PS2
A USB stick
The Free McBoot Noobie Package
Go to this link and choose Installation to see possible ways to install the Softmod
http://freemcboot.info/index.html
If you can install the Mod from one of the listed ways, head to the below link
http://freemcboot.info/noobie.html
The noobie package download link is listed as “The Free McBoot Noobie Package”
Once installed, the usb loader is called “Open PS2 Loader”

I have never used the loader, I either use Swap magic or I patch my games to work with ESR and Free McBoot

Cause I’ve been told that I need some kind of a chip installed on my ps2 (eye thing)
@xSystematic, that means I need nothing more than usb stick, memory card and usb stick.
I’m about to try that, I’ll get back with the results.
thankyou

without the extra chip inside?

I just checked my PS2, and it’s:
SCPH-75004
5C

This means it’s 2005, (before 08) and will work, right?
P.S: Which method of ‘Softmod’ do you prefer me to use? Considering that I only have a USB and a Memory stick for the ps2.
Answer #8
Works on my PS2 (75003)
I used Swap Magic to install the softmod, but they need to be original copies. So you need to check the installation tab on the FMcBoot page
Or if you can boot PS2 CD backups on your PS2 (Using a boot disc or swapping discs) try the disc posted here
http://snesorama.us/board/showthread.php?t=62826
Looking at the installations, you will need to use the original discs (Not copies) for all the methods posted. Doing the game swap method you will need an original copy of the said game then you will need to sensor mod your ps2 (Opening it up and blocking the sensors)

if you check the mcfree boot web site it has a list of trusted people that you can send a ps2 memory card to, and they will set it up for you. All you have to pay is postage both ways. once you have your own card you can format as many memory cards as you like.
Answer #10
you could use free mcboot, and it comes with a program called ESR, its basically plays ps2 games (burnt) if they patched to become DVDv(i think), so basically look around for the ESR PATCHER, patch the iso (of the game), burn the patched iso, then slap it in the ps2 slim!!! dont bother using the usb to play backup games its 2 slow…free mc boot is the way to go….
EDIT: http://www.mediafire.com/?2mi0iymx1en
1. get free mcboot… -if ur friend has a modded ps2, use it to install the mcboot onto your memory card (which is plugged into his/her ps2)
2. download the ESR PATCHER.
3. patch the game iso
4. burn it (imgburn or dvd decrypter)
5. slap it in
6. and it should flash random colours on the screen… but its normal

I did a full copy of a USB that already runs PES, I just copied everything from inside to the other free usb, will that work ?
I now only need to set up the memory card..?
Answer #12
I managed to duplicate the whole usb with the game inside of it, and now my USB drive is working too when trying to play it on PS2.
the only thing that’s left for me is to duplicate the memory card from my friend’s.
how can I prepare my memory card to work (duplicate it) using the other working memory card?
Answer #13
copy and paste
Answer #14
I tried that, using the PS2 console, to copy everything from one memory card to the other one, but doesn’t work or I’m doing it wrong.
Maybe I should format the memory card firstly, how can I do that?
Answer #15
If you had freemcboot on one card, you can’t just copy it over to a second card, you have to install it on your second memory card
