PC to 42″ HDTV?

August 5th, 2016

Hey, I was just wondering what it would be like to use my computer on a 42″ Plasma TV, this will be in my room which is of a good size so that’s no worries I was just wondering what the resolution would look like? Like will videos and things be as clear as they are on my screen if not clearer? Please if anyone know just post or if you’ve got your PC hooked up to your TV take a picture and post it please? That would be so good thanks.

for best results you’ll need to connect them with HDMI which your TV already has but you need to check if your graphic card has it.

Right, okay I know my Graphics card doesn’t have it I’m thinking that VGA to HDMI adapter wouldn’t work would it? Or would it but no have audio?

there are signal convertors for stuff like that but for that price it’s better to buy graphic card that does have HDMI out.

This will not strain your eyes at all….and WOW….but it will cost you an Arm and a LEG….
Also, you can always go DVI to HDMI using an adapter conversion. Cheers

Moved from Off-Topic to Helpdesk.

Best thing is to get HDMI to HDMI lead, if your graphics card supports it. Or a DVI to HDMI lead.

That’s what I said. LOL…..It’s always best to go from HDMI to HDMI, but in this case, DVI to HDMI….Might not be as great….

There is no need to use HDMI. I have a 7″ Asus EEE which I connect to the TV (42″ LCD) from VGA to VGA.
I was not expecting a good picture from this very small screen laptop, but was very surprised how good it was. You will need an audio cable from the headset to TV as VGA does not carry audio. Remember. HDMI will not improve the picture, and I find that VGA is very good.

I connect my desktop to my 42 plasma via the VGA leads, perfect pictures & sounds every time
along with my wireless mouse & keyboard I dont have to leave the settee
Answer #11
HDMI will produce more HD – High Definitions then VGA..while VGA can still produce good enough color and clarity…..I have HDMI on my laptop, and attached it to my 32″ screen..looks great…
Answer #12
make sure to sit farther away from the screen… sitting close to a huge screen will hurt the crap out of your eyes and give you disgusting headaches.
trust me, i know.

well yeah it can look great. im hooked up to a 40′ with hdmi and again… looks great. ANd nah VGA aint that clear a pic as hdmi. But you wanted to know how it looks? Well its blasting.! Just remember to get wireless keyboard and mouse. . . like someone said… gets a bit tough to look at. . . . and with the wireless im sitting at the cofe table in a sofa about 2-3 m away.. .and i love this set-up.

I use DVI-HDMI on an 8800GTS to a 32″ LCD, and the picture is bang on. HDMI evolved from DVI to carry audio and copy protection aswell as video, the picture quality is identical when using digital DVI (Which most consumer stuff is). To cure squinting, I sit on my sofa about 5 ft away, and set the resolution to 1600×900. Remember. HDMI will not improve the picture, and I find that VGA is very good.
HDMI/DVI is capable of carrying a larger resolution, so it is recommended.
VGA is capable of 2048 x 1536 @ 85Hz
DVI is capable of 2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz.
HDMI is just DVI with an audio stream, so there is no conversion issues when using a DVI > HDMI cable.
