Password Hacking Software

Are there any Password Hacking Softwares that actually work?
I’ve been trying to find out my Brothers Password for awhile now,
it’s his very old account which he doesn’t use anymore but he had some emails saved from our Family members which I want to get…
for the life of him he said he cant remember the Password as he’s had a few different Passwords for things, we’ve tried all the ones he can remember but none work.
I was thinking whether anyones managed to create a Software that could sit and go through letters/numbers quickly to then get the Password?
surely there would be something like that, like when you try finding out a code you start with something like 0001, 0002, 0003, 0004 and so on to 9999, obviously then you would of found out the code, so just wondering whether there is any Software like that?
