Hacking the PS3 – Help

Ive just bought a PS3, CECH 3003a with FW 3.7 something.
I know theres no CFW yet, but a lot of people are saying (From what ive read) that its best to update to FW 4.00 and no higher and wait it out. Is it possible to put this on a mem stick and update manually?
Also, should I update to FW 4.00 and wait or just leave it?

If is 3.70,3.72,3.73 use E3 Flasher or something like that…

to anwser your quest yes you can update ofw using a mem stick
to update or not makes no diference since cant downgrade to 3.55 and theres no cfw for 3.55 above
E3 flasher i think works on 4.11 too
