Obama speeches copyright?

January 20th, 2020

My friend wants to use an excerpt from a Obama speech in some music, now i’m just wondering if the use of these speeches are copyrighted in anyway or in the public domain.
Thanks

Answer #1
if the speech is recorded by you or your friend, its yours you can even claim copyright for that [i read it somewhere]
Answer #2
Well the version is recorded from a tv broadcast of his victory speech, if this makes a difference.
Answer #3
who could tell where it was recorded I would say public domain
Answer #4
unless the song goes multi-platinum, nobody is going to say anything about it… even if it does go multiplatinum the worse you’re gonna get is someonone asking you to remove the soundbyte.
Answer #5
Thanks for this info, we put it in anyway, bit crushed it and put some EQ on it so it’s hard to tell where it came from anyway.
Cheers.
