August 7th, 2016

My dad’s laptop For some reason there is no sound coming out of the speaker ( its not on mute , driver is up to date ). I only can hear sound if I plug in a headphone, which is weird. Maybe its something he press, but he doesn’t remember what. Any help would be appreciated!

I’d check all the simple settings first, just to make sure, before doing any further troubleshooting.
Assuming your OS is Windows… Go to the Control Panel, click “sound”
Select the output of the audio device (speakers?) to see that it’s set as default.
Click properties to make sure the device is enabled.
Click configure to make sure it’s set to stereo.
Make sure the speaker levels are turned up to max and the (left/right) balance is correct.
And finally check the mode setting, if you have one, to allow the use of the device.
Then there should be a “Test” button in the properties pane to check the sound output.
