No signal on monitor on xbox and pc

My friend has a pc monitor which he has asked me to test out. He turns his PC on and the monitor saysno signal and turns off. Now he tried his pc on his tv and it worked fine.
He gave me the monitor and asked me to try it.
Ive tried it with my xbox, with a xbox360 vga lead that ive got and it says the same thing even with an xbox.
So is it new monitor time?

check the pins and cables before doing anything rly else.
secondly i would look at the monitors connections to see if anythings broken.

Yeah if it works with the t.v then maybe his vga just isnt working anymore. could he hook it up using hdmi

as monitor fails to see signal on 2 devices it monitor cable or fault usualy not worth repairing as cheaper to get new
