Monitor says ‘no signal’..
February 2nd, 2020
Regularly my monitor says that it doesn’t receive a signal.. : ‘no signal’ and i try with moving with the mouse or pushing some buttons on the keyboard but it doesn’t activate the screen.. . At least the only option is doing a ‘hard reset’ so keep the power button for a few seconds and reboot.
But does anybody has experience with this kind of problems?
Btw: i setted my pc that it NEVER goes in sleep.. only the screen gets a timeout after 45min.
Maybe its gone where all monitors go when they die…
Dont start pressing buttons everywhere…. Just check the connection cables
And reboot.Probably its just loose.
ED; Yeah….it should unless the monitor is really dead it does not interfere with your OS in any way.
I meant in the computer there is a setting to make the monitor go into sleep mode.
Yes there is….. go into your computer power settings
ED: To get monitor out of sleep mode … just use the mouse or click enter

Yeah but after reboot it works back great??
Was your monitor acting like that since you bought it or it happened recently ?
Did you change your monitor connection (VGA to DVI) because for some reason my monitor will activate sleep mode only if it connected to a VGA connecter (On-board graphics) ?

No it’s the first time it gave this problem!! I bought it many years ago( i think 6 years for sure!) and it always worked great.
No i didn’t change anything? But you mean with vga to dvi with the cable connection or what?

Yes the cable connection … did you change it ?
Also the monitor say “No Signal” when it goes to sleep or just at random times even if you were actually using it ?
the problem is obviously NOT in your monitor, because when you reboot your computer, it comes back. you have the computer set to sleep after 45 minutes? maybe it’s not resuming after sleep mode.

No you didn’t read good.. i setted it that my pc NEVER goes in sleep mode(unless i do it manually).. only my monitor after 45min.
Can you monitor switch between connection? My monitor has the same problem a while back. Somehow it went into DVI mode instead of HDMI mode. Had to reconfig it to run on HDMI all the time and it work since.
Maybe your is the same? But then again its a 6 year old monitor….

And how do you configure that?

So what man?? Does that automatically means you have to “throw it away”?? wrote: Select all wrote: Select allthe problem is obviously NOT in your monitor, because when you reboot your computer, it comes back. you have the computer set to sleep after 45 minutes? maybe it's not resuming after sleep mode.

Yes ok.. i set it like after 45min. my monitor goes into sleep mode but not my pc.
We need to look at this logically to diagnose the problem..
Have we found that the connecting cord is good and screwed in tightly?
Wiggle the cable around at both ends and look to see that you don’t loose picture or signal.
That should pick out a faulty cable.
The easiest next thing to do is to try another monitor, if you can arrange that.
Also, as has been mentioned, use a vga cable in lieu of dvi or visa versa. ( Just the digital or just the analogue signal could be faulty) Also try your monitor on another PC to be double sure !
If not the monitor, it could be the video card…If you have a plug in type one, rather than onboard graphics. Try removing and replugging it a few times to reseat it, as it could get a dirty connection(now that sounds naughty!)
If it has a power connection, make sure it’s tight.
Try a another vid card, if you can.
Anyhow, that’s where I would start, if I didn’t think I had upset something in Windows !
If it is easier to check the video card first, rather than the monitor, then by all means do so
