New PC and OS Problem

January 27th, 2020

I’ve recently purchased a new computer. When i put my XP Installation CD into my drive nothing comes up on my monitor. What’s the problem?
Answer #1
Check if XP CD is bootable. Check also your BIOS setup if CD/DVD ROM is first in boot sequence.

Answer #2
How do i do that?
Answer #3
Press DEL or F2 several times during restart to login to BIOS. You can check the boot sequence there.

Answer #4
But i cannot see anything on my monitor, if i press DEL or F2 several times, would i be able to see something?, cheers for your help
Answer #5
You have just purchased a new computer, send it back to where it came from and complain there. They can fix your problem. They must have sent you a defective unit. Cheers.

Answer #6
i will probabley ring, thanks for the advice
Answer #7
Did you plug in the monitor?
Answer #8
Are you sure you have everything plugged in correctly, Does the pc turn on and respond to the power button when pressed? Probably if you have bought this from a company they have messed it up or some parts could have possibly been wiggled out of position during shipping. Idk thats just my guesses.
Answer #9
yes the monitor is pluged in properly and my pc turns on. :S, My monitor is an 22″ LG L226WTQ-SF if that helps
Answer #10
I dont advise this but… If you are a little computer savvy then open the case (voiding the warenty) and make sure that the ram, graphics card is all in slot. If all else fails call up the company and give em hell.
Answer #11
you should see a makers logo or a list of settings as the pc boots if not check all connections to monitor and that monitor power on led is on if all are correct take it back or contact there support desk

Ah had this problem with a cousin. all i did was to put the pins on the monitor cable back in place. maybe a pin has broken and i used a wire to replace it. now when u screw the cable on the monitor, switch on ur comp before and try and play with the cable and something might turn up. Next thing, press del or f2. this will go to bios and go to bootable device priority and put your dvd rom in first place .. thats it.
Answer #16
cool, what you mean by the pins on the monitor cable?, thanks
