Microphone Problem

January 23rd, 2020

Hey, so I bought a new Microphone called Carcharias from Razer.
On ventrilo and msn video call and anything that has to do with a microphone. My mic is really low and not clear.
The only time it’s good is if I use the GSM 6.10 with 44KHz, 16bit format in a Ventrilo channel.
I want my mic to work in any ventrilo server, and on microsoft recording thing, and msn.
If you guys have any idea on how to fix this please let me know.
Thank you,
Justin-

Checked the slider on volume control? Also some programs have
their own volume control.

I’m using windows 7, And if I microphone boost it to the highest, the volume of the microphone is where I want it but there’s a whole lot of static to a point where it’s annoying.
On ventrilo my volume is maxed out.
I’m thinking this could be a audio codec problem. Seeing as I bought the motherboard last year, it would be weird if the soundcard was the problem.

Does your mic have it’s own physical volume slider? Alot of em do,Try
to fiddle around with it,And of course it’d distort,You should never set it to
the highest level,Also try enabling/disabling “microphone boost”,It should
be in the advanced settings,If you don’t have an advanced button
underneath the mic slider then on the menus click options>advanced controls
and it’d appear.

Yes, it has a volume slider. I fiddled with it and it seems like it’s working fine. As for the microphone boost if I enable it, it gives intense static.

I’m guessing there’s 2 microphone jacks behind my computer but there’s only one that’s Pink.
There’s gray, black, orange, blue, green, and pink.
I know green is speaker, and pink is microphone. I’m not sure what the rest are.

Do you have another mic to try? Try updating your sound card driver.

I had another headset and the mic was working fine. But it would have a little static in the back. I want my microphone to be crisp and beautiful because i payed around 80$ for it.

Over here I have an Unknown Device that I can’t seem to figure out what it is used for.
It’s located in the USB section but perhaps it could have something to do with the microphone. I have no idea, but I’m trying to give you guys as much information as possible.
Do you think it could be a codec problem? If so, what’s the best codec to download? And do codec’s even effect my microphone?

If you have a laptop or a branded desktop from the likes of HP,DELL,E-Machines,Acer,Gateway,Toshiba,Sony
then obtain the latest sound card driver from their
website by the model,If a custom made desktop
you’ll have to determine the motherboard model
and get it from the manufacturer site,Use CPU-Z
for that (Mainboard tab),Get it from here:
http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
As for that “unknown” USB device it has nothing to do with the mic as it’s not a USB one,It’s related to one
of your USB devices,If you’ll unplug each you’ll eventually
determine which as it’ll disappear once it’s disconnected.
This has nothing to do with codecs,A codec can only affect
the sound quality and not the way your mic works,The only
options are:
1. Buggy sound card driver.
2. The mic is defective.
3. The sound card is defective.
