iPhone 2G 3.1.2 unlock? please!

1. i unlocked a 2G before, using redsn0w 0.8 and the 3.0 IPSW
2. i want to know is i can unlock ANOTHER 2G that is on 2.1 right now and update it to 3.1.2.
3. do i need redsn0w? or blackra1n? or just a custom IPSW created with pwnetool?
please anyone! let me know!!!!

Just update to 3.1.2, use blackra1n to jailbreak, link to your wifi network, install cydia, use it to get bootneuter and use that for the unlock portion, takes about 5 minutes.

i thought blackrain wouldnt jailbreak the 2Gs, just the pwnage tool, anyhow i had that phone on 3.0 so i unlocked it with redsn0w and then used a custom ipsw to update to 3.1.2, so im cool now, thanks for the info tho, didnt know blackra1n jailbroke the first generation.
It’s much easier to download a Pwnage created jailbroken, unlocked .ipsw than to re-jailbreak.

you should be able to do it using blackra1n bro! if it doesnt work restore it with itunes useing DFU mode, look for tutorials in www.iclarified.com[/quote]

i used this solution on my 2g , its now unlocked , everything works except youtube .” cannot connect to youtube ” i get when trying to load youtube . i tried resyncing it but didnt help .

i had it on 3.0………………so i jailbroke it with redsn0w and then got a custom IPSW so i could get it on 3.1.2 and unlocked! working great!
