I want to create a website
January 26th, 2020
Thanks
Setting up a website is relatively easy these days.
The following things are required:
1) A web hosting server (can be purchased from sites listed below). Please note, there are more web host’s out there than this!
http://www.hostgator.com/
http://www.hostmonster.com/
There is also free hosting but this has certain limitations which might effect your website in a way such as bandwidth or space limitations.
2) Once you have set up your web hosting account you will be given certain details from the host. Important details you will recieve are the FTP details and the MySQL details. Please note these down. To connect your web server you will need an FTP client which is basically a program where you can upload things from your computer to an another computer, and in this case the other computer being your web server.
I highly suggest you use Filezilla which can be downloaded from the link below.
http://filezilla-project.org/
For more help with connecting to the FTP, please Google it.
3) Once you are connected to your FTP you can upload files. In this case you will be uploading word press. Read the word press instructions on how to install it to your server.
4 A .com domain will cost money. You will need to register it. You can register it at many different registrar sites.
Such as the site below.
http://www.123-reg.co.uk/
Once you have set up your domain, your registrar will provide your nameservers – note this down! This is very important. Nameservers are basically something which allows your domain connect to your web server.
Once you have the nameservers written down, go to your web hosting panel (normally cPanel). There you will find something called “manage nameservers”. In this section you can enter your nameservers.
Please be aware, that this progress can take up to 48 hours to work!
Hope this helps.
First of all just want to say thansk for taking time to help me out, been goign crazy trying to figure it out.
First need to purchase a web host, for number two i plan to uplaod files to zshare then post them, what would i upload to word press. How do i connect my domain to my site, through ftp?
Edit: Forget what i said about wordpress having a program you where right.
many free web hosts are allmost as good as paid and will cirtainly do for starters many of them provide free subdomain which will do as well and that way you dont have to use name servers (to direct domain to your site)
I would suggest you try Byethost.com
free first and their paid service is very cheap and very good when you are ready to move on

You need to upload the wordpress files and folders to your server using the FTP client. You connect your domain by retrieving the nameservers from your registrar (the place you registered it). Then you go to your web hosting panel which is usally cPanel and find manange nameservers. In there you can change your name servers.
As hamish said, free hosts are good but have limits. Make sure you have a play around on a free host first before you purchase one.
Also, contact the web host by live chat or e-mail (what ever service they provide) and don’t be scared to ask a question that might sound really stupid to you – they’re use to it. In fact, my brother works at a web hosting company and helps lots of people like yourself.
Once you get the hang of it, it will be easy. Just keep practicing and looking at tutorials and guides.
If you need more help please feel free to contact me via PM.
