August 6th, 2016

Ok so it’s my birthday in Feb which is a bit like pay day and I got some money for Xmas and what better to spend it on than a computer. Just want someone to check if everything will work together properly because it’s my first
A Q6600 processor with arctic cooler
Antec 900 case
Samsung Spinpoint 500gb
Samsung CD/DVD drive with huge name that I don’t want to type but you can check it here http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=692680
An ASUS 8800 GT 512mb
Logitech G11 keyboard
Corsair 2048MB TwinX XMS2 6400 DDR2 memory
PSU with stupid name again http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=375886
Belkin Pre-n Mimo Wireless Notebook Adapter with PCI Adapter
Asus P5N-E SLI 650i Socket 775
And my TV + laptop screen shall be used as monitors (MaxiVista to use laptop screen as extra monitor )
Also some extra questions…
1. Is the CD/DVD drive able to rip DVD’s, Burn em and burn Wii games?
2. Can’t think of a 2nd question
3. If you can, suggest some better pieces please? Preferably from these sites;

www.scan.co.uk
www.ebuyer.com
www.microdirect.co.uk

4. Will the components come with all the cables I shall need?
I think thats it, thanks in advance to anyone who replies

Answer #1
Yeah, the configuration seems to be fine to me. Mother board supports processor, RAM and graphics card. The configuration itself seems to be rather good. Not top of the line but still not bad at all to own. As for your questions:
1. Yes, the DVD is able to do all those things and much more. 2. Maybe if you think a little harder
3. It totally depends on your budget and what you plan on doing with the computer, If it’s a gaming PC then maybe you should get a little more RAM, perhaps 4GB.
4. All the cables you need should come with the components I think. I don’t think you’ll need to get any additional cables. Good luck mate ^_^
Answer #2
Cheers, and it will only be for light gaming, not heavy 22-hours-a-day-where-I-may-need-3-way-SLI-8800-Ultras
Answer #3
For light gaming the configuration seams very reasonable. The machine can run pretty much every game nowadays at medium settings. You should be able to do just fine with that PC. Also, the motherboard would support pretty much most upgrades nowadays so upgrading it later shouldn’t be too difficult. Good luck mate ^_^
Answer #4
K thanks for your help, wouldn’t mind other opinions as well. Looks like I got it right though
FYI. No. I am not getting ATI or AMD. They can go bury themselves in a small hole and get filled with cement.
Answer #5
Sorry for the double post but I need help with the wireless. The computer will have to be wireless because I’m far from my BT HomeHub but apparently that PCI card doesn’t support Vista (which is what I’ll use, XP as a 2nd OS). I don’t mind using either a USB or PCI card.
Answer #6
Yeah thats a nice build. Even if you were not going to just do light gaming then it would still be nice.
Answer #7
Yea it was gonna be for light gaming, burning Wii games, DVDs, Ripping DVD’s (got loads ) and just to annoy my friend that I got a better PC than him
