Help! Unlocking Iphone 3GS (Not Jailbreak) Can You Do That?
January 22nd, 2020
Thanks.
No, every soft unlock for the iPhone is possible as a result of a jailbreak.
The only way around this is to legally unlock it by have the carrier it’s locked to provide you with the unlock code.
In order to jailbreak/unlock it, you’ll need to use blackra1n or redsn0w.
Is there any disavantages to jailbreaking a phone? Should I do it?
Thanks.
The only downside of a jailbreak is that it (temporarily) voids your warranty.
Should it malfunction, you’d need to do a clean install of the latest firmware in order to take advantage of its warranty.
Past that, there’s 0 risk.
Ok thanks
I accidentally got my Iphone 3GS updated to the latest software 3.1.3 and the jailbreak and unlock steps don’t work, please explain what I can do, I really need this unlocked!!
Thanks.
You can’t unlock (nor jailbreak) 3.1.3 currently (maybe not ever), and cannot downgrade to 3.1.2.
You’re screwed. Regardless of what anyone here tells you, you cannot unlock nor jailbreak any iDevice running 3.1.3.
I’ll just unlock it the legit way then.
