Help – Outputing Laptop to HDTV

August 21st, 2013

Ive recently found out about the awesome XMBC software, which would save me buying a media player if i can get it connected right.
So i connected via HDMI cable and set projection, displays fine but theres 2 problems:
1 – No Sound through TV (HDMI should pick this up right? )
2 – Some of the desktop is cut off
anyone know how to fix these?
much appreciated

Probably cause your graphics card doesn’t support audio to be transmitted through the HDMI output.
Answer #2
1 – Try going to control panel>sound devices and on the voice tab set the playback device to the HDMI.
2 – Can’t say for sure as I don’t have enough information,But my guess is that it’s somehow related to the resolution,What
resolution are you using? Also,What’s the full model of your TV?

thanks i figured it out
for anyone who wants to know:
1 – connect HDMI cable from laptop to HDTV
2 – set projection using windows key + P
3 – go to sound options and set HDMI as default sound (may need to reset laptop)
4 – set tv ratio to “just scan” (on tv settings)

XMBC is awesome though my 42″ plasma, plays any video file ive thru at it
