Help on video converting…

August 5th, 2016

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for advice and opinions on the best program for converting movie files. The idea is to end up with the best quality I can that the average television will play through it’s USB/Media port.

Answer #1
My experience with the FREE “Freemake Video Converter” has been flawless.
Answer #2
There is a few around and they can basically do the same job.
You need to know what your TV can handle though.
No good making .mkv (x264) files if it will only do .avi (Xvid).
Sometimes they may only handle certain resolutions or audio types
So you could experiment with Freemake using different settings.(do a custom install with Freemake so you can decline the crap)
Converters like Handbrake, Xmedia recode and Avidemux are somewhat more flexible in their setting..

Handbrake would be better to use over Freemake IMO.
I’ve never converted with Handbrake myself, and have mainly used freemake to burn to dvd.
But since I’ve got a media player now, have no need to burn anymore.
Why handbrake, well I know it’s been used by those uploading movies and TV shows here.
How many of them would use freemake for same reason.
