January 20th, 2020

when i put my graphics card in my computer and hook my monitor up to it i don’t get signal i’m not sure if this has anything to do with it but the manual tells me to switch my OS to standard VGA drivers (which i don’t have) any help?
Answer #1
install the graphic card driver
Answer #2
when i go to do that it says that the right i don’t have the propper hardware and the manual tells me to install the graphics card first before i install the forcedriver
Answer #3
maybe defected graphic card?
is it new?
Answer #4
yeah i just got it today
Answer #5
ah, neither it is defected or doesnt support your motherboard!
try to exchange it
Answer #6
unless I was lied to and PCIe 2.0 isn’t backwards compatible with PCIe 16x then it is supported, also the fan on the graphics card works is there a chance that it’s still bad?
Answer #7
the fan doesnt mean it work.
how much did you get the card? pci is slow, you should of gotten an agp if your motherboard supports it.
Answer #8
no it doesn’t support AGP but i paid $250 for the card
Answer #9

pci is slow, you should of gotten an agp if your motherboard supports it.

he said pci-e not pci, and pci-e is much faster than agp
Answer #10
ah no agp. okay. hmmm another problem might be your motherboard, if it is too old then it might not support it. im not sure about that. but lets see if others have any ideas
Answer #11
well my motherboard is a Mach Speed P4MST-890 my graphics card is 8800 GT
Answer #12

ok didnt see the e
Answer #13
and i dont think its the motherboard. sounds like a good one.
go ask the store dudes and they will help you out.
Answer #14
ok i just found out that these kinds of video cards require a lot of power. so try unplugging unneeded cd-roms, usb…
if this doesnt help then the card is defected, take it to the store and tell them to exchange itNext time please use the edit button instead of double posting or bumping topics. twncam

Answer #17

mobo means PC right? well i built the pc costom and i’m starting not to trust tiger either my fan i orderd a CPU fan it was a week later than i paid for
Answer #21
well they have broken stuff, so contact them and tell about the problem. they should exchange it or give your money back!
Answer #22
yeah i’m going to get it exchanged i odn’t know if this bit of information will help diagnose it but when i hook the monitor up the the graphics card the monitor goes into power save mode and then out of the blue the little LED that is yellow in power save mode will change green like it’s recieving a signal again then it will say that it is going into power save mode again (meaning it lost singal again) so yeah
Answer #23
it is defected for sure
Answer #24
ok well i guess i’ll return it and get another and hope it turns out right this time
thanks for the help alot
Answer #25
wait, it might be from the resolution! i wanted to run linux from a live cd and it said that the resolution is too high, change it to lower resolution, then it brought the power saver mode.
do you know how to reset the bios or cmos settings? if yes then do that. it might help!
Answer #26
yeah ino how you just hit restore defaults and could you explain that to me again please i’m not sure i understood all that
Answer #27
no not that. restore the bios on the motherboard via the jumper.
ok. so i wanted to run linux today, actually backtrack. then i typed xconf so it automatically configures the system and everything. it configured then it started loading. after a few seconds it brought the message on the screen. then i had to restart the comp so it would reset. so just try the bios reset with the videocard on.
heres how you do it. turn off your comp, unplug the power.
open the case, look for the cmos jumper. take it out, look for the battery (its like a watch battery but bigger) take it out, wait 1 minute and put the jumper and the battery back. plug back everything and turn it on. see if it helps.
the jumper must be next to the FDD HEADER and above the connectors (power button, led. etc..)

Answer #28
ok i’m not sure what the jumper is but i think i can see what your talking about so i’ll try that thanks
Answer #29
ok is the jumper that little black thing that links two pins ? cause if it is then that didn’t work
Answer #30
Try messing with the motherboard jumpers I actually had a similar problem, try looking in your video card troubleshoot manual pages first, before you do anything though, the manual should help you out alot.
Answer #31
My card didn’t come with a manual and the dumb tech support # is supposudly always full and they haven’t returned my email yet and i don’t know what the jumpers are, are they the little things that link pins?
Answer #32
If you tell me what company made your 8800 gt I could look for the exact manual (nvidia, asus for example).
Answer #33
Look on how pci-e 2.0 works on pci-e 16x
Also make you sure you look a little in your motherboards CMOS/BIOS settings, maybe use a another screen/gfx card. Maybe theres some setting ?!
Answer #34
damnit…
you see the battery that is next to the pci-e slots? unplug the power and take out that battery and the jumper, wait 1 minute and put it back ( do this while the graphic card is attached to the motherboard!) then plug the power and turn on your pc. see if this helps.
Answer #35
lol sorry didn’t mean to upset you i just didn’t know what the jumper was ok i’ll do that and the Graphix card is manufactured by KFA2
Answer #36
ok i removed that little battery for at least 1 min but that didn’t work
Answer #37
oh the jumper is the black thing that you said
if it doesnt work then exchange the card. i think this is the best you can do!
Answer #38
yeah i’ll just do that thanks alot for the help tho much appriciated
Answer #39
no problem
let me know if u need more help
