editting video files help

hi some of good shows and movies i like some part better than other i was wanitn some software tha will for me to be bale to get parts of shows and make small avi files with them parts in i want some good software can any one here help me

erm…adobe premiere pro is a really popular and good one and i think recently sony vegas also became quite popular…for making special effects and stuff use adobe after effects..hope this helps
