Easiest way to put iOS 8.1.1 on iPhone 4s

January 25th, 2020

I’m trying to put 8.1.1 on iPhone 4s using iTunes but the
Issue is that the iTunes keep jumping to version 8.1.2
How can I change this?

Answer #1
You download the 8.1.1 ipsw directly and then update by doing a restore
Click on “Restore” and select the IPSW instead but you will lose the existing files and settings on your iOS device. If you go that route, do not forget to backup beforehand.: instructions and links here

Answer #2
it wont let me do a restore from the 8.1.1 because it keeps finding 8.1.2 from apple site even though i do not want that.

nope.
8.1.1 is NOT being signed so you can’t update to it or restore to it.
you can only do what’s being signed and that’s 8.1.2!
Merry Christmas.
you can see what is being signed here:
https://ipsw.me/all#iPhone41
you can also see other devices such as the iPad Air etc.

You can .. I just did it to make sure. Follow the directions in various tuts out there. If you can’t manage this, then don’t bother jailbreaking I would say.
For example:

Just google “install unsigned ipsw” and you will get your fill of fixes.

LMFAO I give up.
it will not work, restore and/or update to ANY iOS without it being signed and you’ll get an error in iTunes. you said:

it’s not as simple as that.
trust me, I’ve been there, done it and got the t-shirt.
good luck OP.
Answer #6
Did you not look at the other site Chippy?
Anyhow .. read the other site to bypass the ‘signed’ error. It is simple . really it is, for most people that is
Answer #7
yes, I did.
I downloaded 6.1.3 IPSW and tried to restore, got a “3194” error in iTunes.
without an SHSH blob it can’t be done, fact.
you can’t just downgrade to a lower version if it’s NOT being signed.
unless you can prove you did…………………………..
