Easiest way to jailbreak and unloack iPhone 3G

I’ve got an iPhone 3G 8GB that I want to jailbreak and unlocked. It’s currently locked to O2 in the UK and I believe the firmware is 3.1 but I’m not sure.
Can anyone tell me the easiest option to jailbreak and unlock the phone so that any sim can be used? What firmware will I need to downgrade/upgrade to?
The power/sleep button is broken on the phone and it cannot be reset/enter DFU mode using the hold power/sleep button and the home button at the same time.

hmm, you can just try using blackra1n. to jailbreak. then once jailbroken goto manage then sources
click edit then add
repo666.ultrasn0w.com
add that and install ultrasn0w
bam jailbroken and unlocked.
if you are on firmware 3.1.3 use spirit
use redsn0w to jailbreak your phone. Also youtube redsn0w jailbreak to show you step by step processes
hard to use redsn0w with no working power button…
