Driver not visible

I am using Win 7 x64 bit OS from Lenova. Of late my DVD writer is not visible and under device manager it is showing yellow. I uninstalled the driver and it NOT re installing after re start of computer. It says software installation failed.
I also see another problem. Whenever I install a virtual drive the regular DVD writer is not recognized and sometimes ever disappears.
But under bios settings the writer is recognized. I request for help.
