DRAM/CPU ratio? I don’t quite understand

September 4th, 2013

Hi all,
I’ve read somewhere about DRAM/CPU ratio, but i don’t quite understand it.
They said that the ratio 1:1 is the best way to go without holding the cpu back by the ram.
I know what a ratio is. But I don’t really understand what changes I have to make to the FSB and DRAM frequency to achieve a 1:1 ratio.
Also, where can I see my current ratio? CPU-Z gives me something as ‘FSB:DRAM = CPU/10?
Does this means my current ratio is 1:10?
I would really like to know more about this.
Thanks in advantage

You’d only get some increased stability depending on the chipset. Nowadays it’s pretty moot and pretty impossible at that.

If I understand it correctly.. I have to find my highest possible fsb and then match the ram speed to the fsb?
For example:
My highest possible fsb my machine can handle is 260mhz.
Then I will have to downgrade my RAM frequency from 800mhz (1600ddr) to 260mhz to run in sync with my cpu?
Wouldn’t that be downgrading ur rig?
Correct me if the stated above is incorrect
And thanks again for ur reply paroxysM! x)

Yess I did google it before posting this thread. But I only found some advanced explanations and didn’t understand it completly. After posting this thread I found a more easy thread after keeping searching. I think I understand it know but you may always correct me if someting stated in my post beneath is incorrect.
Thanks
