Data Lost

August 6th, 2016

hey ,
i putted my USB-stick in the computer and after 5 seconds the window just closes and i cant find my usb back only on ‘safely remove’. i used getdataback to create a image of the whole USB so now i can use my USB again.
but i really need the documents and stuff that was on the USB back.
A friend of my tryed it and found some pics but the program only gets back some kind of extensions.
so peeps can you help me to get all data back from that .img?
(sorry formy english )
thanks anyway,
greetz,

Hmm, does it only happen on your computer? If you ain’t tried other comps, i suggest thats the next move you take.
Answer #2
if you need your data back I suggest this great app called testdisk
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TestDisk
this app saved me several times before.
note that its photorec that recovers the data, included with testdisk. testdisk might be able to fix your partition table allowing you to access your drive noramlly
Answer #3
by the way, its open source

edit: or can i load the image with a programme like you load a image cd with deamon tools?

Answer #5
doood!!!!!
its open source dood! its free!

I dunno about the .img it works on images done with dd… so it should do, if it doesn’t use it on the usb thingie itself
remember that to recover data you will be using photorec instead of testdisk! (they belong to each other by the way)
for more info read the wikipedia page, and the testdisk wiki

searching for a key because it is needed for large files over 300mb (and every file is like 700mb so :p)
ok i tried it and the only thing that that program does is setting those image files in one map (virtual disc) so when i mount that .iso file it opens and i get the 12 images files :s so thats no good :s i need to put all the .img files together as 1 .img file and then i can put it as .iso but not 12.img files in one .iso file (i hope you guys understand it :s)

Answer #17
Is this to do with your USB stick? i.e. no problem installing something on your computer?
If the answer is yes, is your USB stick under 4gig?
If YES, download from wbb and install GetDataBack for FAT by Runtime Software.
If this is bigger, and therefore an NTFS disk, download GetDataBack for NTFS by Runtime Software.
If this is simple a “how to use an iso” issue, download and install daemon tools and “mount” the image file using Daemon (there will be an icon in the taskbar from which you can mount iso’s)

My computer knows its there but i think the codes on the usb to know what it is (don’t know how to call it) are broken and so it doesn’t know how to load it.
My USB is 8GB (formatted 7.68GB)
it isn’t NTFS it is FAT32 and i made a image with GetDataBack now i want to load that file like it is a usb because a CD with FAT doesn’t exist i think? if there is a program to get it from this imageDisc please tell .
And thanks for this anyway
i don’t know if it will mater anything but i’ll try the NTFS version.
greetz,
Still Searching
Answer #19
there may be corruption with the MBR of that disk, but i dont know how to help you with that.
use Daemon tools or magic iso to access the iso file, but you wont be able to access the mbr from that iso, as the iso only makes an image of the files you can access (best im aware).
restoring the mbr of the usb drive will probably mean you lose all its data.
