Does it specifically have to be @example.com? Or is that literally an example?
Just go sign up for G[oogle]mail. It’s free and you get almost 6GB of storage (only email though )

You can’t do that for free, you need to buy a domain name first. Not everything can be done with or achieved freely

You can’t select the domain name. In site hosting the hosts may offer email accounts. That way if you own your own domain, for example Mydomain.com, you’ll be able to create an account like:
@Mydomain.com

There isn’t a way to do that but there are many free email hosts, gmail, hotmail, aol, inbox.com, and many more you can try for free
and have a decent amount of space capability.
