I have the Airport Extreme base station generation 4 I have it connected by wire to my Windows 7 pc and it is wirelessly connected to my mac downstairs now the mac downstairs gets about 90% of the bandwidth whether its on or off my windows computer will get about 100kbs on a good day ill get about 300-400 now my mac will get about 1.2-3.4mbps what is causing this ive tried playing with the settings on the utility and reducing power output to wireless to 50% and all this did was make both my wired and wireless get cut in half i got the airport because my old routers wireless wasn’t projecting across my house and the signal strength was poor but this is making the wired connection which from all my Experience is usually given the majority of the bandwidth get cut short. is there anything i can do besides just plugging up my old router? any help would be appreciated i posted this on the mac help website but im so fed up with mac right now they don’t even have support for their own products after 90 days you have to look to the community for assistance i have brighthouse lightning and im getting like 1/4-1/2 of standard speeds.

Well, if you try looking for this problem anywhare you’ll find very little. Apple jealously guards against any negativity about their products. Apple don’t seem to want you to use their kit in a mixed environment. Your best bet is indeed to power up your old router.
