Converting and Burning mor than one video part file to DVD

August 3rd, 2016

I am using convert to convertxtodvd 5 to do this but was wondering which other software can do this. I have Nero 12 but cannot figure out if it does this. I know many other program can convert but can they add together say 3 parts to make a full single file say a VOB and burn..
TIA

Actually you don’t join VOB files. They simply read one after the other, controlled by the IFO files and your menu.
Full Nero 12 should have Nero Video or Nero Vision that can author DVDs.
Freemake Video Converter has a simple DVD maker.
TMPGEnc Authoring Works is a more professional one that there has been good comments about..

Ok I see…so when Convertxto DVD does its thing it simple places the VOBs with an ifo file which controls the running..yes..?
Thanks….so I guess as long as the VOB’s will fit onto a DVD they can be played seamlessly in order..?

You can join VOB files and author them, I’ve been using VOB2MPG PRO for years to do that. I actually paid $20 for it, it’s that good. There’s a freeware version but the developer made it work as slow as a turtle on purpose as an incentive to buy the pro version, plus the pro version has a lot more useful features anyways so it’s worth the money. It’s crack proof (so far), the pro version is a seperate download after you buy it and you have to register it over the internet with a machine license to boot.
you can pick and choose the VOBs you want to join and it even keeps the original audio and subtitles (and even close captions if you want). No need for conversion. It’s lossless. Check it out:

In the official DVD format, VOB files may only be about 1GB long. After that it just writes another VOB file which is seamlessly played with the last one, if it is part of the same title. Another set of IFO and VOB files are written for each title.
When writing more titles to a DVD, the authoring app like ConvertXtoDVD, will reduce the bit rate of the VOB files, to make them smaller, so you can fit more on.
If you do too many however, the quality will suffer…The ‘Traffic Lights’ in ConvertX shows you what to expect

And thanks to for the further info!

I hate ConvertX because the end quality is terrible, at least from my experience. It sure reduces the bit rate and kills the end result. I use TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4.0.12.42 (the release by embrace) but the only fly in the ointment is it won’t pass through DTS. Otherwise, it produces the best quality out of all the other programs I tried, easy to use, and it has a lot of excellent features to boot.
