Computer Desk to take 3 x 27″ monitors?

July 28th, 2013

I’m getting the 27″ iMac next week. I’ve always worked on 2 monitors but now i feel the need for a third.
With that in mind, i will need a new desk which can take 3×27″ monitors. 1x iMac + 2 x AOC 27″
Any suggestions and plans please?
Will a 6X2 table do good?
Do i have to have it in a curved position or will turning the monitors to my side be good enough?
What kind of storage space would you recommend?
Thanks!!

The bezels would be quite different. It wont work nearly as well as you would think. I’d get some VESA mounts personally and use the nearest wall. Keeping bright 27″x3 of screen close to you wont be very good for your eyes.

thanks for the info!
Honestly i didnt think about the bezels.. i use a laptop + acer 21.5 right now, i’m rather fine with it. and the 21.5 is big enough.. but to max out at 3 screens, i need the 27″ iMac and not the 21.5… so i’m rather confused now lol

The AOC monitors would have the same bezel so they’d work but the iMac would be vastly different and since it’s designed in other ways quite differently as well, it might take some creative positioning. Honestly, if the monitors are just only capable of 1920 x 1080/1200 I wouldn’t bother with them. The recommended resolution for a 27″ is 2560×1600 so you can actually have decent real estate on your screen.

the thing that i’m considering is that i wont really use them together, in the sense, i wont have a program that i will span on all three screens.
also, the 21.5 can take a third monitor using the usb->dvi stuff. any idea how good that is?
