Cisco Routing- Home Network Assignment

April 3rd, 2023

Hello All!
I have multiple networks I have to explain how to set up and this one has me stuck. Can anyone please tell me the IP addresses and Commands I could use to set up the Cisco switch I have listed below? Mostly need assistance with subnetting and the access list. I can set up VLANs and assign the devices.
1.Redesign your home network with the following equipment…

  • 1 Linksys router (provided by your Internet provider).
  • 1 Cisco layer 3 switch.
  • 3 laptops
  • 2 desktops
  • 4 tablets
  • 1 printer
  • 5 smartphones
  • 3 TVs
  • 3 set top boxes
  • 1 gaming console

2.Subnetting – Use the 192.168.1.0/24 address space. Do not reuse the same IP Address block size more than once.

  • Create VLAN 2 and assign it to the point to point link between the Cisco router and the Linksys router.
  • Create VLAN 3 and put 3 laptops, 2 desktops, 4 tablets, 1 printer, and 5 phones in it.
  • Create VLAN 4 and put 3 TVs, 3 set top boxes, and 1 gaming consoles in it.
  • Create VLAN 5 and allow no more than 6 IP addresses to it. This is your guest VLAN.

3.Access-list – create the following access-list, and apply them to the correct Virtual Interface.

  • Permit all traffic into VLAN 3, except for traffic originating from VLAN 4 and VLAN 5.
  • Permit all traffic into VLAN 4, except for traffic originating from VLAN 3 and VLAN 5.
  • Permit all outbound traffic from VLAN 5 to the Internet, but do not allow outbound traffic from VLAN 5 destined to VLAN 3 or VLAN 4.

Thank you so much for taking the time to view this thread!
Answer #1
So what part are you having trouble with?
No one is going to just do your homework for you.
Answer #2
Well I’ll provide the answer to #1: Redesign your home network with the following equipment…
please tell me the IP addresses and Commands
There are no IP addresses or commands needed to design the network! Map out a network diagram that accommodates all of the equipment listed.

Thanks for replying. I’m new to Cisco routing and I’m just stuck on this network set up problem.
I am having trouble with the subnetting portion. What does it mean to use the 192.168.1.0/24 address space? How do I create VLAN 5 and only allow no more than 6 IP addresses? I am also just completely stuck on the access list part. I don’t know what commands to start off with and I don’t know how to permit traffic between VLANs. If you can even just point me to a helpful website or the commands I would need to use that would be very helpful.
