Case airflow, NZXT Tempest, extra side fan
January 25th, 2020
The airflow is illustrated with white arrows. I got the idea to cut an extra hole in the side panel and put another 120mm fan in there to blow on the cpu heatsink and/or ram. would this mess up my airflow and give me negative results? and imagine the cables are hidden and tied up nice…
system specs:
case- NZXT Tempest
proc- AMD Phenom II 955
mobo- MSI 790fx-GD70
cpu cooler- Zalman 9700 LED (using zalman super thermal grease that came with it)
GPU- Powercolor Radeon HD 4870
PSU- Tuniq 650w
HDD- WD Black 1TB
Well before even changing the airflow, clean up those cables. That’s a horrible mess. Get a pack of zip ties and plan out how to tie back those cables.
sory, i meant imagine the cables are cleaned up and hidden =D
i just ordered a 4870 and new cable management will be necessary in a few days
I would keep it the same except switch the side case fan to an exhaust.
Same airflow technique as the Antec 900? Google it, 2 front fans, 1 rear fan, 1 side fan, and 1 on top They’re all monster in size
yeah, real similar to the antec 900, 2 front, 1 rear, 2 top, i side, 120mm fans. i was thinking that more air to the cpu would help, but it sounds like it wont.
oh well =\ thanks for the replies!
Naah, you probs got all the air you need. Try a new cpu heatsink or water cooler system
whats wrong with the 9700? it doesnt cover my ram slots!
water cooling would be pretty sweet though =0
thank you for the suggestion!
