can iphone 3G 2.2.1 be unlocked?

You don’t unlock the iPhone 3g through QuickPwn, you have to do it through a utility found on Cydia (yellowsn0w)…and no, you likely can’t unlock it now…I think only the basebands found on 2.2 and earlier can be unlocked.

bootloader must be 05.08 to unlock 3g fw 2.2.1

LOL, you kidding me? Ipod touch can’t even be unlocked, that’s called jailbreaking. To unlock an iPhone, you need to modify the baseband. With the 3G, this has to be done live (with the system running), so you need to jailbreak it first. Don’t pretend to be smart when you aren’t…

Yeah, but yellowsnow onley works on the baseband of 2.2, so we need to downgrade first.. using fuzzy baseband downgrader get it?
so if i restore my iphone will i lose all my data? like contacts and that stuff? pictures i just save them, the apps i can install them again, but how do i save contacts. do u have a videotutorial?
I have just spent a few days trying to unlock my 3g iphone in Thailand. No one can unlock the software yet – a place called MBK has all of the latest cracks and copies of everything you can imagine. You can however use the turbo sim card without any issues (they say it only works at about 75%) but since using this I have had no problems and can use any sim card in any country (it cost 700b in Thailand but I don’t know how much they are else where).

(don’t know if it’s exactly the word backup, just something similar, i’m dutch )
After you do this you will be able to restore the backup once your finished, so you won’t loose anything.

Sorry, this software will only work with baseband bootloader 05.08. remember my iphone is a 3G so it sucks i cant unlock it, thats crap, hate appleOh, sorry to hear that You could try a piggyback sim such as rebelsim or gravy 3g sim..

use quickpwn 2.2.5 to jailbreak ur 3g iphone 2.2.1 first, check ur bootloader 5.8 baseband ( modem firmware ) 2.30.xx ?. u need to downgrade ur baseband from 2.30 to 2.28 using fuzzyband downgrader ( u can dl it in cydia ), then install yellowsn0w to unlock.

see i dont know much of IPSW and i do not own or know somebody who owns a mac as well, so i guess i have to wait until they realease the software for pc and be able to unlock the phone. which in the states i dont really need cuz i have att, but i wanted to use my iphone this 2 weeks in my counrtry. anyway, keep waiting
