Brand New laptop stopped charging
January 25th, 2020
Is charger plugged tightly in to a good working power point or power board ?
Is there a light on the charger (if it has one) ?
Charger plugged firmly into laptop?
If this is all so, then it should show charge light on laptop..
I suggest you get a cheap digital multimeter and have the charger properly tested!
First you should establish the polarity (Which should appear on it’s sticker, Or be printed on it)
Refer to this Wikipedia page for more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polarity_symbols
In most cases, The outer part of the DC Jack is negative, While the inner is positive, But you should still verify this to be on the safe side. If the polarity isn’t specified at all, Then just automatically assume that the above is the case.
For the record, Black Probe = Negative, Red Probe = Positive. Set the multimeter to 20 DCV and attach the probes to the jack accordingly, I.E: http://media.bestofmicro.com/dell-65w-adapter-dc-voltage,B-B-279047-13.png
Just hold the probes firmly as they make contact.
If you cannot get the probe into the inner part (Which can happen on some very thin jacks) then what you should
do is take a metal paperclip, Bend it and stick it in it (While the charger is unplugged from the wall) and then plug it in, And have the probe touch it. It’s a fairly simple process overall! Just make sure you remove the probes from the jack before you turn off the multimeter (You don’t wanna do it while they’re still making contact with it, As that could easily cause a short circuit, Or fry the multimeter!) Anyways, Good luck!
Edit: It might also be an issue with the battery itself. If you disconnect it and plug the charger in, Does the light turn on?
I`d take the computer back quick smart….Before U get stressed
then do a frissbee act against the wALL with it. lol
