Are 300mb x264 movies all blue ray rips?

January 28th, 2020

Hey I’m not to bright on this subject, i just had a look at
http://www.google.com?t=2218692&highlight=
which teaches you how to make 300mb mkv movies, but the tut doesn’t say anything about the source files. Are you supposed to just have Video_Ts folder or a hq avi file or … Would appreciate it if someone could tell me

Answer #1
thats what i Know
no there are some BDRip, BRRip, DVDRips
you can make 300 MB movie from any source but the lower the source file the lower will be the encode print its good to encode with HD movies
Answer #2
You shouldnt use MEGUI as its crap, The GUI sucks and so does the encoder (X264) Youll get better rusults with the MainConcept H.264 /CoreAAC+2 encoders even more so considering your outputting 300MB files and overall the program is easier to use.
In short replace it with Sorenson Squeeze 6, Its a far better program.
As for the source it wont matter @300MB the resolution will be the only difference.
Answer #3
No not all 300mb x264 movies are BlueRay RIPS
Look at the sourse to see what sort of RIP it is….
Answer #4
300MB x264 won’t give you HD anyhow so it doesn’t really matter if the source is DVD or BlueRay..
Answer #5
I would imagine that 99% of 300mb rip are re-encodes of 720p and 1080p scene and p2p releases.

I don’t think meGUI is crap unless the user hasn’t clue how to use it.
It combines some useful tools and encoders with the mighty frame server called AviSynth.
x264 a crap encoder? Stunning, no comment…
And btw please stop imposing your bloatware on everyone.

MEGUI is a perfect example of how not to make a GUI, Its ugly and needlessly complicated.

Unfortunitly for you i base my opinions on facts, The MainConcept encoder has better Quality/Bitrate ratios and is faster transcoding.

Facts are Facts are Facts and Sorenson is the better program which gives better rusults and is easier to use with its user exportable presets and its in OP’s best intrests to dump MEGUI and swich to Sorenson
Answer #8
it depends entirely on the source. the encoder may choose to rip a blu ray source or a DVD rip. as for the source, i think you need an avi file

Yup, in your opinion…

In the posted comparision x264 is always near behind MainConcept, but the outputs of both encoders are nearly similar that you can’t really see any difference.
You’re claiming x264 as an ultra pretty bad encoder that everyone would think the encoded video has to be extremly blurry and artifact filled. That’s maybe true if you’re messing up the settings.
An example: source = untouched BluRay vs. Encode with x264.exe

I don’t see any bad results.

Its behind the MainConcept encoder in every area includig encodeing time

Its one of the worst ones out there behind Sorenson Pro, Mainconcept and VC1. The MainConcept encoder has better Quality/Bitrate ratios and is faster transcoding, Sorenson is the better program which gives best rusults.
No reason to put up with crap software on a forum.

No it’s not, OP: Most of the movies I do are bluray rips and dvdrips but I sometimes do the odd TS, dvdscr, Cam…etc!

I never doubt that.

God, you’re totally blinded by Mainconcept’s first place that you everything other leaving apart. The funny thing is by reading the comparison I always read something like: the leader is Mainconcept followed by x264… Never read something about VC-1, Sorenson Pro since they aren’t involved in the comparison. Probably you didn’t read it.

Good to know that all release groups are using x264 for their HD-releases.

Talk about being blind

That comparison, Look online they put x264 in 4th place.

Yeah crap compression for all, Huzzah  Sorenson is the best H.264 transcoder out there.

It’s not the time neither the place to convince each other which is best so stop going off topic
Answer #15
No, they aren’t.

I disagree has a question about MeGUI if theres a program thats both easier to use and produces better rusults in less time he shoud know.
In this case there is and its called Sorenson Squeeze.

Ok, you can’t get it – why should someone use a huge colorful program that is limited in settings for it’s encoder while he could get a tiny program oriented for his needs. Like I said – in my opinion meGUI has a tidy surface, just like staxRip…
It’s just a GUI for several encoders to prevent users for using eg. x264.exe in command line mode.
That comparison, Look online they put x264 in 4th place.
Where? I’m talking about your posted comparison.
Yeah crap compression for all, Huzzah  Sorenson is the best H.264 transcoder out there.
The “council” of those groups know why they’re using x264 and they have their reasons. Ask them why. I didn’t made the rules. The quality almost never fails.
Sorry for being Offtopic.

Because Sorenson has the CoreAAC+2 / Mainconcept encoders which produce better files in less time
Its also far easier to use with user exportable presets, cropping and batch conversion. Its a far better choice for the OP and anyone else encoding H.264
The "council" of those groups know why they're using x264 and they have their reasons. Ask them why. I didn't made the rules. The quality almost never fails.
Theyre incompident fools who use outdated codecs where theyre not needed.
