Help me buy a new computer. .

July 26th, 2016

So if you check my last thread you will see I had a hard drive failure.. I want to keep my old video card for now its a Nvidia 460 se version. Im not an expert with hardware and my budget is not huge but I want a decent set up. I want to use the best cpu fx835 ? I think .. I’m using my phone to
type so I can’t search right now. For ram I want something real decent and I don’t mind having 12gb Of ram or more. The problem is the tower and power supply. Whats the min size power supply Do I need ? If these can be reasonable good without costing toomuch I’ll be happy. I have 1.5gb of hard drive right now and I want to get a 2gig one on top of this. My budget is around $650 before taxes and delivrry.. im in Canada. So keep that in mind for prices. Thanks guys ill copy some links I’m interested in.

Tower
The CPU is sure of. . But the tower is changeable. . For a better price I will consider another I also notice full towers don’t have a power supply attached and I have no idea how to select those.
Give me better suggestions please keeping in mind I want the latest technology that will last me a while. . Plan to hook this up to a tv aswell.

1.AMD FX 8350:it may be cheap and have good performance but its too much power hungry (check some reviews).you are going to pay huge electricity bills Recomended: Intel i5 3570k best mid range processor it performs better than 8350

2.RAM:16GB is too much buy. 8GB with more power (2133) is enough REcomended: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory

EDIT:
I plan to upgrade the cpu by year end
PSU: since psu for haswell is a bit different so choose this one

CASE:this is the best case for the money

Yes that helps. . And check out the link above to see if any of those promos are good substitutes. A huge bill is not an option. Lol..
Not a big fan of Intel tho.. And I wanted to try the fx series. . And I want above mid range cpu.
I plan to upgrade the cpu by year end. So the power supply can be a bit higher. And I guess you like my choice of mother board ?
Answer #4
Yep you want a decent PSU, not a $20 cheapie that comes with a case..
This one is good value..

The thing I don’t like about Intel’s CPUs is since the first i7, they implemented the memory controller hub, this just made memory purchasing a pain in some countries if you wanted faster modules. That means you should use memory kits with lower voltages and exceeding 1.5V will greatly shorten the life of the processor.
Intel says its fine as long as you don’t see burnt marks, I disagree. Low voltage modules if you want over 1866Mhz operation, although I don’t see the point of using anything beyond 1600Mhz. You can set Xtreme profiles, its more of a hassle with some boards.

Okay that’s what I’m looking at right now. Since I need a new gpu recommend a good one. I already havea gfx460 1gb but it shows up on your list even tho its not the worst oftener I don’t mind upgrading. From the parts I selected I would love to lower my CCost and tell me if I can go micro without losing much from the mother board. I wanted the ram to be above 1600 for more speed. It’salso my fantssy to get the i7 so if I can cut the prize down on my current list let me know. . I’ll be able to bump it up to the i7.
Answer #9
In Haswell there are some compatibility problems with the PSU
you should contact “swords to plowshare” whether the PSU is compatible or not you can buy i7 by reducing the hard disk amount and buying a mid tower case
Answer #10
Which PSu is compatible ? And can I get a mid tower with a compatible psu ?

Updated… If I can get a better case and psu for 50 more I would be happy. And better Ram for 30 more I would be happy.. but this looks decent to me. After these are settled I’ll decide to upgrade to i7even tho it seems to be over doing it.
