haxorware forceware cable modem

Can anyone tell me what haxorware forceware cable modems are and what is the advantage of these units? I am with TWC and paying rent every month for their modem box and looking to purchase my own modem so I dont have to pay for the modem every month. I see people are selling haxorware forceware cable modem on CL and also on ebay. Thank you for your help.

If you dont know what is it I suggest you should not buy it and get a retail one. It could get you into trouble.
It will try to get higher speed that was originally offered by your ISP. Like changing MAC address etc. Stick with an retail modem.

Thank you MU for your reply and information. I like the idea of getting a higher speed than what I am paying for. How hard is it to maintain the modem and how hard is it to stay out of trouble?

I dont use them so I have no idea since I dont want to get a big fine.

U can use any MODEM U want Youi dont have to use the one they supply
