Fax Modem help

Hello, how can I tell if I have a fax modem? I was given this computer so I have no documents for the pc or the modem. I tried checking the modem properties but no luck there. Is there any sofware that can tell me if the modem can fax? Also, is there any specialized software for faxing on fax modems?
