will the i7 (from Ebay) work with my laptop?
edit:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-BY80607002907AH-Core-i7-720QM-1-60GHz-Socket-G1-rPGA988A-Processor-SLBLY-/251395182183?
that should work, right?

Answer #1
No chance with the i7 720QM as its a G1 socket, the 2720QM is G2 like your laptop however it does draw more power, check here (scroll down)

The 15 2520M or i5 2540M would give you a significant increase in performance and be considerably cheaper (and more likely to work). I upgraded my wife’s i3-2310M to a 2520 for 20 quid and that made one hell of a difference.

Just google the model of laptop and what you want to do, plenty of step by step guides or videos for most makes/models.

so that will work in my laptop? I’m not really bothered about it draining power I just want a quad core laptop.

You will need to upgrade the BIOS first, Samsung……. good luck with that bit.
@lidoer yes it will entail applying thermal paste between the processor and the heatsink.

thanks. I’ll order it Monday with the bios being on the latest version, do I need to do anything else? I’m letting my Dad take my laptop apart and fitting it. I just haven’t told him yet it shouldn’t be too hard though, he’s done this sort of thing before.
thanks again brotha!
