xbox 360 modding.

August 8th, 2016

okay so i’ve pulled apart my xbox and connected it to the computer, and im using 360 firmware toolbox 4.8 to flash it and whatnot. but when i go to TOOLS>DIRECT DRIVE DUMP (GDR ONLY)>RAW DUMP FIRMWARE AS …
it says “cannot read from drive”
im worryed it is my chipset, the Intel Q965 • ICH8DO.
is there a way to work around this if so?

Answer #3
are you sure you have a hitachi drive? firmwaretoolbox only works with hitachi drives.
also, did you first boot to SLAX linux to get the drive into mode-b, so, that windows can actually see it?
Answer #4

the newest version is 1.62 I think and the newest ixtreme is 1.6 and to use jungleflasher you have to install portIO32(should come with jungleflasher).
and when you say “no luck” what do you mean, program wouldn’t start, wouldn’t find drive, wouldn’t flash drive?
wat DVD drive do you have.
I’ve used Jungleflasher to mod 2 lite-ons, 3 BenQs, and 2 Sammies, nobody I know had a Hitachi drive.
also I think there is the possibility that your sata connection may just not work for this task. if this is a problem you might be able to buy a pci card with sata connections that could work.
If you live near Cincinnati, OH I could do it for you.

ok, assuming you have a hitachi drive, do you have a 0078fk or a 0079fk? if you have the 0079, I’ve heard that it is a difficult drive to flash. I think you actually have to do some extra steps to get it flashed. your best bet is to go to xbox-scene.com to find your answers.
edit: found this on xbox-scene “You need to install a ‘Passkey’ mod chip to read and write the firmware of a V79 drive. You cannot read/write the firmware without the chip installed. Google ‘Passkey V79 tutorial’ and you will find what you need.”
so, if you have the 0079 drive [which i believe you do since it is an elite], you are in for extra work.
