XBOX 360:: HELP! Can’t read update from disc…

November 12th, 2013

I have an xbox360 arcade with a BenQ drive. It is not LT+ flashed, but it is flashed. I tried to play a backup copy of fifa12 and it asked me to install an update. i went ahead with it and and now it says:
Can't read the update from the disc. Please reinsert the disc.
If the problem persists, visit www.xbox.com/support
Status code: 3134 - 351F - B800 - 0F00 - C000 - 0034

It gets stuck like this and i can’t proceed further.
I am on the kinect dashboard(dont know the number)…
I have tries reinserting the disc. I have tried tried pressing the sync button while starting the xbox.
I don’t have warranty. Also, i dont play online so i dont care about being banned.
Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks in advance

pretty sure your f/w on the drive is stopping the update, as the last update before flashed console to a new stock firmware so the update is trying to do this but cant as of the f/w on the drive or if u have a spoofed drive the update will fail. U need to flash bk to stock, update then reflash.

Actually, he first time iflashed, my friend flashed it for me. so I don’t have the original firmware! What do i do?

Yes! It is the older firmware on the drive stopping the uddate!
As the update wants to flash the drive to the original stock firmware, and may have tried and failed – hence the read errors!

This happened to me as well, just update to lt 2.0 then it will update fine.

In your case:
Download the latest firmware pack and also Jungle Flasher.
Follow the Jungle Flasher tutorial that comes with Jungle Flasher and copy the lastest firmware pack into the Firmware folder in Jungle Flasher.
Now hook your Benq drive up, unlcok it and read the firmware!
If it does read, then Jungle Flasher will ask to ‘auto load’ the firmware – say NO!
Now save your drive key as the key.bin file more than once in different places! The key.bin file holds the unique key for your drive and mobo combination – so don’t loose it!
Next, load up the Benq Origianl firmware from the Ixtreme firmware pack which is located in the Latest Stock Firmware Pack under:
Stock Firmware\Benq\Benq_Pre_13141
Make sure you load the correct version as the drive identified by Jungle Flasher!
Then click Manual Spoof. This will copy your drive key from key.bin into the stock firmware you’ve just loaded.
Now save the firmware as Benq_CFW_Stock
Then flash the drive using the write method.
Now test all is okay – you should be able to load original discs, but not backups!
Once you’ve done that, update the dash to version 13599 (current recommended dash for LT+2.0) using the USB method.
If you can’t get dash 13599 USB, let me know an I’ll up it for you!
Once the dash has been upgraded, again test to read discs – originals only!
Now you need to flash the drive to LT+2.0
Do as above, hook Benq drive up, unlock it, read the current firmware from the drive and then click yes when Jungle Flasher says ‘auto load’ – this will load LT+2.0 for Benq and Spoof your drive key across!
Now save firmware as Benq_CFW_LT2.0
Then write as normal.
Now test drive – all should be fine!
Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot guys!
Is there any way i can fix this without re-flashing? (I’m not confident with opening my xbox)
I read somewhere that you have to use a different layer break value when you burn the dvd for fifa 12 to work properly. I’ll try that…
If i get the original fifa 12 disc will i be able to update and play?
If i have to flash will i need any special equipment? Do i have to open my comp, cos i heard that you can use a SATA to USB cable. Will that work?
Thanks in advance

No!

No!
Fifa 12 is a wave 13 game disc, and use’s the same layer break.

I would say possibly yes! But the dash upgrade does tend to screw up on non-stock firmware drives!

What you have done is installed the update from a backup copy of Fifa 12, which will be dash 13146 or 13599 – check your current dash version.
When you upgrade to dash 13146 or above – It will re-flash your drive back to stock in order to upgrade the drive and allow it to read XGD3 (Xbox Game Disc 3) format discs.
This is why your upgrade will not continue, as it can’t read the backup Fifa 12 disc, as your drives firmware is now stock (or screwed).
Try reading a different backup game – bet you it doesn’t work now!
In order to re-flash your drive – after you’ve done a successful dash upgrade, you need to hook your Xbox 360 drive up to a PC by one of various different methods.
For Benq, cheapest easy way (If you know what you are doing), you will need:
VIA VT 6421 A (6421 A is the chipset) SATA PCI Card
SATA Cable
Xecuter CK3 Lite Power Adapter
You don’t need an CK3 as you can use the Xbox 360 to power the drive (YOU MUST EARTH the Xbox 360 to the PC), however it is known that the Xbox 360 does log the fact that the drive is not connected when powered up.
Also, other SATA chipsets, such as N-Force also work, however the VIA card with the correct chipset is guaranteed to work! I should know, I’ve being flashing my 360’s since 2006!
If you need anymore info or help, just let me know buddy!

The xbox should read updates downloaded and burned onto a CD or pendrive right?
I’ve tried that and it doesn’t work.
Can i use a SATA to USB cable to flash?
I have some other questions about flashing too but i will PM them later!
Thanks for all your help!

Sorry mate! No! You can’t use a SATA to USB cable to flash a Xbox 360 drive!
You have to do what I posted above!
