Xbox 360 backup game burning question

August 5th, 2016

Due to the recession, can’t buy games for my son like I used to, so I’m getting his xbox’s firmware upgraded so as to be able to play backup games. Got a tutorial on bookmark, and will be getting the console back saturday, but i have one, maybe two questions. I’ve got imgburn, and a dual layer writable ready to go, but my question is this: I use dvd+ discs when burning movies, do dl discs come in + and -, and if so, which one do i need. I apparently have an NTSC region box, and second question. 2×4 burning speed is recommended. If I can burn at 1x, would that be better, or is 2×4 sufficient? Thanks guys. My son is salivating like a fat kid eyeing some cake!
Answer #1
yhea burn as slow as you can, that way there is less chance for skip error
Answer #2
You are supposed to burn at half the manufactured stated Max speed.
So 16x at 8x, 8x and 4x and so on…
But I would suggest ether 2x or 4x.
Answer #3
you need to use DL DVD+R’s and you should burn at 2.4x
Answer #4
thanks guys. is awesome. forever
Answer #5
In actuality, you should burn at the lowest write speed supported by the disc.
In my experience, there are two different type of Verbatim dual layer DVDs: ones that can be written at 2.4x, and others that can be written at 4x. Either will work. Sony also makes dual layer media that is sufficient for playing X360 backups.
Also, know that in putting custom firmware on your console, you will be banned from Xbox Live.
Answer #6
I usually burn by the speed stated by the disk. Upgrade to the latest burner firmware before doing so.
So yeah, low speeds such as 2.4x, 6x, 8x are usually using CLV stratigy, so 2.4x is the sweet spot during benchmarks. So the important bits in burning are:
Using expensive brand such as Verbatim
Using DVD+R DL
Layerbreak set to stated value
Have a decent 20x or better burner for good results.
Answer #7
Yeah, expensive is the operative word. The guy that 1.6’d me suggested that I use TDK DL discs, and they were 12.99 for 5. Hoping that it works, because thanks to the community. I’m really saving a bundle.
BTW, what exactly is a layerbreak, and why must it be 1913760? got that number from the tutorial I’m going by.

Its when the burner burns the second layer data, 1913760 is the sector where this is taken place.
Answer #9

Answer #10
