I can only guess it’s a driver problem…
Windows 7 tend to include the majority of the drivers while XP does not..
Post a screenshot of you Device Manager..

sorry for the ignorance, but can u tell me how to do that?
Answer #4
You need a network adapter driver (It’s software)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315275
Install AIDA64, it should tell you what the adapter is and then you need to go get the driver.
Answer #5
Is the connection wired or wireless?
Have you recently reinstalled the OS?
Press Winkey+R,Type devmgmt.msc and hit enter,If you see any device with a yellow mark
on it,Download & Run the following tool:
http://www.mediafire.com/?cmd5ty9iv1ng1re
Save the output then copy & paste it so I could find you a compatible driver,Since the PC in question has
no connectivity at the moment,Use a flash drive for this task,Also in case it’s not obvious,Winkey = The key
that has the windows logo on it (near the space bar)

Well, like i said, i have 2 computers and they are both connected through a router. And as for the O.S, well its been quite a time since i installed but, but honestly i haven’t tried nothing except solving the problem.
and here is what i got from the software u sent to me:

According to the log,You got no Ethernet card,Maybe it’s disabled in the BIOS,Better get it checked!
Set that aside,Considering the drivers your missing,I find it hard to believe it’s been a while since you reinstalled.
Video card:
ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp33001-33500/sp33101.exe
NVIDIA NForce4 Bundle:
http://http.download.nvidia.com/Windows/nForce/standalone/6.70/nForce4_amd_6.70_winxp2k_international.exe
This will take care of the chipset & audio.
Answer #8
