Windows xp – hard drive broken? Blue error screen.

August 7th, 2016

It all started when the electricity company turned off electricity to work in our street, and they put it on again, and since then the pc gives the blue error. the pc was off when they shut down the electricity.
This problem is VERY complicated:
when i normally start the pc it says that it has not correctly shut down the previous time (or something like that) no matter what i press, safe mode etc, always blue screen wich says that i have to run chkdsk /F
it does show the loading screen of windows xp for half a second and then it turns blue and says
the hard drive is /C by the way.
chkdsk says that /F is a network thing, so try to run scandisk, i do scandisk /C and it says no problem
this is what i found somewhere else, the problem described by someone else, but no anwers
Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this" It then gives me five options to start: Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking,
Safe mode with Command Prompt, Last Known Good Configuration, and Start Windows Normally. No matter what choice I make to start the computer, it always leads to a blue screen that says "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your
computer. If this is the first time you've seen this error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps: Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or
backup utilities, check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK (spelling?) /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. Technical Information: **** STOP: 0x000000024 (0x00100203, 0x871AE1EO,
0MC00001Q2, 0x000000000)"

My mom bought Acronis true image home 11 a few years ago and i have an image of my whole hard drive when it only had wXP and the basic programs.
i used the image before and it works, and now it gives the same blue screen.
before i reformatted i could make a backup of anything by using the boot disk from acronis, i could browse my hard drive so i dont think its broken
when i press F2 to go to the setup, it detects my hard drive, gives lots of info
When i boot to my windows xp cd, and press R to reinstall or fix, it says no hard drive is inserted
I’m going to bed now, tired, and very annoyed because my pc worked fine for 6 YEARS and is still running fine, no wait WAS running fine so PLEASE help me
Thanks in advance

Here are some things that you should do, not in any particular order
1) back up your data and reinstall windows; format etc, the whole shebang 2) if problems persist it is definitely a hardware issue so its a matter of trial and error
– swap ram to see if thats causing the problem
– take out gfx card and use dedicated onboard gfx card
– and any other hardware that your able to take and out test if it works without it
3) make sure all cables are intact and fitted to the right piece of equipment
Most of the time, reformatting your harddrive and installing a fesh new operating system will make it good as new (:
Answer #2
it sounds like your harddrive it is not dead but has bad sectors. The bad sectors when xp tries to read info it needs it cant because the drive is faulty. Back up what you can now before drive totally fails and replace.
Answer #3
Format your computer
Answer #4
You might want to give this a try,My wife’s machine went into a total crash and burn and hard drive was messed up[Many bad sectors] Made a boot cd and ran it in repair mode . worked great and repaired Hard drive to where I could do a format and clean install. Was able to let her use her machine until I could install a new drive. [It takes a while depending on the size of your Hard drive]

Answer #5
get “active boot disk plus 5” burn & boot from it and use the hard drive diagnostic app to check your drive
also check your bios to see if the hard drive controller is in SATA/AHCI mode
most XP CD’s can’t read SATA disks in that mode
Answer #6
Okay guys i’ll try the boot cd thing
Answer #7
: my drive is in sata mode, and my bios setup shows my hd correctly, i’ve scanned for damaged sectors and none were found…
I guess i’ll have to buy a new hard drive, 60 for 1TB seems a fair price
Answer #8
my drive is in sata mode, and my bios setup shows my hd correctly
correctly for 7, but that may be why XP can see it
Answer #9
i tried an other hard drive and still the same problem, windows loads for a sec and freezes
