Windows Vista freezes every time I load my 4gb USB stick

February 3rd, 2020

title.
Ok so here’s what happens. I plug in my USB and it opens the contents however it takes forever for it to detect and load all the files (the green bar filling up on the top), and if you try to open a 1gb file in the USB it freezes for like 5-10 minutes.
On XP this never happened, it was all instant. Is there any feature in Vista that needs to be disabled for it to be able to act like Windows XP in this instance?
Thanks.

Hmm….. Are u USB drivers updated ? Go to ur motherboard manufacturers website and check for updates.

iv heard that certain usb sticks become ram once inserted. Theres a hundred ways this process can fail..That is the Windows Vista Readyboost feature.
Whilst were on about blaming software.. open run (all programs.. accessories..run)
type msconfig
go to the services tab, look for the readyboost service and disable it. (i think a restart is needed, cant remember)
then give it a go.

^^^ Thanks but someone lock this topic. This problem has been long solved. And no, it’s not readyboost at all.
