Windows 7 and Windows Vista, bootloader errors

January 24th, 2020

Ok, quick question,
I installed windows 7 on my dads computer, on a seperate drive to C lets call it D, and then cracked it with orbit 30 and hazaars programme. Booted into vista then it got rid of the OEM info id cracked before. Dad decided he didnt like 7 so i got rid of the installation.
Only problem now is that every time the pc boots up it keeps looking for windows 7, in the boot loader it has Windows 7 and Windows 7 XE Loader and refuses to even find vista. the funny thing is that that version of windows, ie 7 is no longer in existence, yet the boot loader keeps looking for it and will come up with disk boot failure when it tries to boot it (obviously),
Anyone got any ideas what I can do?
Thanks in advance.

Answer #1
You need to repair the boot sector.
bootsect.exe /nt60 /force
Run that from CMD line.
Answer #2
okay put in the vista boot disk in and press F12 Quick instructions: (detailed instruction follow)
A.) Use Disk Manager in Windows to delete the Ubuntu/win7/vista partitions.
B.) Boot off your Windows XP CD.
1. Choose Repair
2. When it asks for the installation number, I put in 1″, and it worked fine (you may want to test this first to be sure.)
3. Enter Admin password. (if there is one)
4. At the command prompt type fixmbr, then confirm. Windows will overwrite the dual boot info in the MBR that Ubuntu/win7/vista put there.
5. Type in “FIXBOOT” and hit “Y” again. 6. Reboot! or you can use this program here but you have to pay for it or try to find here
