Windows 10 Legit Activation

January 26th, 2020

I’ve got Windows 10 Pro x64 10240 (RTM) installed in a virtual machine for testing. I’ve activated it using a Windows Insider serial.
My question is, when it comes to release date, can I purchase my own license and reactivate Windows so that it uses my purchased license instead of the Windows Insider one? This is purely to avoid reinstalling Windows.
There is an option to change the licence but can you make it “your own” rather than the serials released by Microsoft without reinstalling?
Notes: I have a genuine Windows 7 Enterprise x64 installation (yes, genuine, not cracked) but as you’re aware, Microsoft aren’t supporting Enterprise versions for the free upgrade (and I’d rather get away from it as it’s too heavy for what I need – only got it because it was free and genuine).
To anyone that says “Just get a cracked version of Windows 10 Pro” – No.
I’ve tried Googling all sorts but they’re not letting much on about purchasing at the moment. Maybe someone has a source or a report that I’ve missed? Thanks in advance everyone.

Yes, I think that you can safely use a valid key for registering the build and in case it’s not working you can try activating it by phone…

Only thing I am not 100% sure on is how you mean a virtual machine. Other then that yes. I believe the change license simply swaps keys so your new one would be legit and the OS would run properly from that point on if Windows did a serial check. Other wise, use the insider serial until Windows “flags” your machine, and if its the same as previous OS’s you then get a message saying “you have 30 days to change the serial” and have the option to do so come up on your desktop (obviously at this point you would put in new legit key and be all good)!

Thanks for the replies. I’ve never changed a license before so not really sure what impact(s) it has on the OS.
@, that makes perfect sense, I remember that annoying reminder window! Hopefully that’s the case with Windows 10. Also, this is what I mean by a virtual machine: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/virtual-machine-makeuseof-explains/
I’m only asking because I’m tempted to install Windows 10 on my main computer today/tomorrow and if I can get everything up and running (software, personal documents etc…) and then simply purchase and change the license on release date it’ll save me waiting another 2 weeks. I know it’s only a short time, but hey, if I can do it without waiting, why not! #3.10: All links must be coded, including, but not limited to:

Yes you can change the serial number and reactivate it

By what I read, if you are an Insider, you should get a key for free..

@. Yeah, you do, but when it comes to general public release they’ll check your previous licence to see if you’re eligible for the free licence. Seems I’m not eligible (I had Windows 7 Enterprise which isn’t supported for the free upgrade) I have no choice but to purchase a licence and reactivate
