Will underclocking a cpu reduce heat or stress it more?

so say I want my cpu to handle 2.0 Ghz instead of 2.6Ghz will it reduce heat and make less noise or just be worst for the system? What if turbo clock kicks in will it be the same then?
Like right now I have just mozilla opened up and its making noise, also will making my cpu to 2.0 Ghz instead of 2.6Ghz impact its performance in games? I played like blacks ops 2, sleeping dogs, GTAIV, L4D2, Sniper ghost warrior 2, tomb raider, and dirt 2 3 and showdown. For my processor I got the amd a10 quad core 2.6 Ghz with the radeon hd 7660g.

Well, it will reduce the heat and thereby the fans could be set to a lower level thus cancelling some noise.
It will also affect your games eg.: 2GHz is the minimum for Sleeping Dogs.
Anyway.. I would not recommend underclocking a CPU. Never did understand people who did it
You could get some less noisier fans? or turn them down a bit? Use liquid cooling if you have the cash and overclock instead? ^^

Sadly I can’t upgrade the cooling :/ as I am using a laptop. What about even downgrading it to 2.4Ghz will that help a little bit in the cooling or cause my system to be unstable or something.

You may be able to turn down CPU and sys fans in BIOS or adjust the temp at which they speed up..
What are your temps like anyhow?….You should not get more than about 45C, on the CPU, with a light load.
EDIT Didn’t say you were using laptop…
Temps are usually higher there..

If I understand correctly: your system runs just fine at the moment? Only reason you wanna clock down is the heat/noise.
For the heat I can recommend a cooling pad, if you game on a laptop. But this will make some noise as well.

What kind of laptop are you using anyway? You should be able to replace the fan with a more silent model though.

Its absurd and shouldn’t be done.
Its why Coolin Quiet was designed, leave it on.
Anyways, its the gpu that is hot and its integrated into the CPU.
So you will not make much of a difference. Let alone voltage mods, there is no bios chips to flash.
Leave the chips running the way it was designed.

Underclocking will not help, try to use an external cooling pad. Always keep laptop on a flat surface so that heat can be dissipated quickly. Always keep the ventilation vents free from dust, most of the time dust is the problem. If nothing works then it seems time has come for cpu replacement.

My laptop says it has an “smart fan, Noise controller” but I am not even sure how it works and I had my laptop for 8 months.

I tired to put my laptop on a book with free open space for the vents and its still hot and makes noise. My laptop is always on the table and there is rubber feet on my laptop but has enough space without the vents being blocked.

Underclocking will reduce heat levels, and should provide stability. You can always turn turbo boost off. You will get significantly fewer frames in all games.
