Your best bet is always buy the same brand card as your router, makes it easier, and try to get a latest one so you have the best protection.
do you use pci card or a usb stick?
Answer #2
You wont find anything good for that. It doesn’t matter what card you get there are only a handful of chip manufacturers. 90% of the cheap end is made by Realtek, Azurewave and Atheros.

thanks but i dont think netgear make internal ones and the external ones are very expensive.
paroxys m is this one decent : http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WN781ND-150Mbps-Wireless-Express/dp/B0036AFAEW/ref=pd_sim_computers_1

What router are you using, it doesn’t really matter, just need to know what it’s capable of transmitting, eg. wireless N at 150mbps/300mbps, is it dual band etc
Answer #5
paroxys m is this one decent :
Atheros AR9285 chipset. You’ll be fine with that on any OS. Though, I’d pay the extra % for a 300 Mbps adapter.

I’d quite agree with that, as long as he hasn’t got a B/G router. If that would be the case, no point getting N unless he intends to update the router at some point.
On the other hand, if his router is capable of dual band wireless N, then he might as well see if he can find a used one capable of that on E-bay for £10
If it’s anywhere like where I live in London, the 2.4GHz range is very congested.
btw pspdoggy – Netgear do make internal cards, although they too are expensive.
